Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Officials from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell, will host an Honor Eagle Ceremony for Maj. Gen. Francis J. Wiercinski November 24th at Hangar 4 at 2:00pm.

Wiercinski will serve as the Senior Commander for Fort Campbell.

Major General Francis J. WiercinskiMajor General Francis “Frank” Wiercinski, is a native of Dickson City, Pennsylvania, and is a 1979 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY.  Commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Infantry, he has commanded at every level – Rifle and Scout Platoon Leader, through Two Star command.  He is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College (1992), at FT Leavenworth, KS, and the US Army War College (1998), at Carlisle Barracks, PA.
 
In addition to Rifle Company Command in the 25th Infantry Division (1983-1984), Major General Wiercinski commanded the 6th Ranger Training Battalion stationed at Eglin AFB, FL (1995-1997).  His combat operational commands include; Ranger Company Command in the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment during OPERATION JUST CAUSE, in Panama (1989-1990), Brigade Combat Team Commander, 3rd Brigade “RAKKASANS”, 101st Airborne Division (AASLT), during OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, and OPERATION ANACONDA, Afghanistan (2001-2002), and as the Deputy Commanding General – Multi National Division North, during OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, Iraq (2006-2007).
 
He has also served as the Deputy Regimental Commander, 75th Ranger Regiment (1998-1999), Ft Benning, GA, the Deputy Commanding General (Support), 25th Infantry Div (2005-2006), and as the Deputy Commanding General, US Army Pacific (2007-2008), Ft Shafter, HI.
 
His key staff assignments included: Operations Officer (S3) at both the Battalion and Brigade level (1993-1995), Deputy Chief of Staff (G3) of the 101st Airborne Division (AASLT) (1999-2000), Director of Regional Operations, Special Operations Division (J3) The Joint Staff (2002-2003), and as the Principal Director, Near East-South Asian Affairs, Office of the Secretary of Defense (2003-2005).
 
MG Wiercinski most recently served as the Commanding General of US Army-Japan and I Corps Forward, stationed at Camp Zama, Japan (2008-2010).
 
In addition to other awards and decorations, he has been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the Bronze Star Medal with “V”, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge with Star, the Master Parachutist’s Badge with Bronze Combat Jump Star, and the US Army Ranger Tab.  MG Wiercinski has also been awarded the “Order of the Rising Sun – 2nd Degree”, Government of Japan, and the Meritorious Service Medal, of Canada.
 
He and his wife, the former, Jeannine Mussari, of Carbondale, PA, have been married for the past 31 years. Mrs. Wiercinski currently resides in their home on Camp Zama, Japan.
