Clarksvillians gathered for annual Christmas Parade

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville gathered together to celebrate the holidays yesterday with the 51st Annual Clarksville Jaycees Christmas Parade. The streets were lined with people all trying to keep warm from the bitter wind and chill temperatures.

The Parade features area Businesses, Civic Groups, and Community Organizations. Each one competing in their category to the best in their division. The Divisions are Civic/Church (Churches, Community Organiations, Nonprofits, etc.); Corporate (City/County Government departments, Banks, Corporations, etc); Commercial (Small Businesses)

The Winners were recognized as they passed the reviewing stand on Public Square.

The Grand Marshal for this years parade was the Austin Peay Governor.  This year the “Chairman’s Choice” award was given to the Buddy Ball Special Needs Athletic League float.

  • Corporate category: Heritage bank won first place, followed by Chuck E Cheese, Aaron’s Sales and Lease.
  • Civic category: The Clarksville Shrine Club in first place, followed by Clarksville High School’s Future Farmers of America club, and Northeast Baptist Church.
  • Commercial category: Exit Reality in first place, followed by the Kennedy Law Firm, and J&J Century Farm.

City and County Dignitaries were represented including City of Clarksville Mayor Johnny Piper and his wife Donita who rode in a white horse drawn carriage. Members of the Clarksville City Council passed out candy from individual golf carts representing their wards. Montgomery County and the Montgomery County Commission were represented as well.
