Clarksville GreenwayClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville held a ribbon cutting today, opening of the scenic  600 foot long pedestrian bridge, and an additional 1.2 miles of walking trails on the Clarksville Greenway. The opening brings the trails to a total of 4.8 miles, with plans already underway to continue the expansion all the way to Heritage Park.

Two memorial markers are located on each end of the bridge, and each of the support arches on the bridge display the name.

The Hand family members — Charles, Faye, Charlsie, Aim-ee Jo, and JR — are proud to give back to the community and to help make the Clarksville Greenway and The Raymond C. Hand Pass possible.

About Raymond C. Hand

Raymond C. Hand was a self-made man whose entrepreneurial spirit and hard work enabled him to establish the Ideal Distributing Company in 1949. It was located in a small building on Pettus Street, and the company had only one truck to deliver beer in Clarksville and several neighboring counties.

In 2010, the company has transformed into the Hand Family Beverage Company, which serves the majority of Tennessee and Western Kentucky, and is recognized as one of the largest beer distributors in the nation. The Hand Family Beverage Company  is a tribute to Raymond’s vision and commitment to Clarksville and exemplifies the American success story.
