Man Trying to Buy Drugs Charged with False Report

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On December 20th, 2010, a man called 911 to report that he had been assaulted by several men at the intersection of Cedar and Reynolds Street.  During the assault the men allegedly took a large sum of cash from him.

After the alleged the robbery, the man drove to the parking lot of Kroger’s on Madison Street and met with officers there.

Detective Dave Bramel took over the investigation and found out what really happened.

Jason Bryan Howerton

The alleged victim, Jason Bryan Howerton, was actually in Summit Heights attempting to buy narcotics. When he was attempting to park his vehicle he ran into two parked vehicles.  One of the vehicle owners approached Howerton and a fight took place.

After the fight, Howerton returned to his vehicle and left the area before calling police. The victim involved in the fight with Howerton called 911 to report the accident before Howerton called to say he was robbed.

Also, during the course of the investigation, Officers Koski and Ortiz found drugs, paraphernalia, and that Howerton’s Tennessee license was revoked.
