Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include:

  • Indoor Aquatic Center to open January 8th
  • Community Center to close for Maintenance and Repairs
  • Indoor Soccer program
  • Silver Socials
  • Zumba Instructor Wanted
  • Movies in the Park 2011

*NEW* Indoor Aquatic Center to open January 8th

Join us from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, January 8th at the Indoor Aquatic Center located on Cunningham Lane for our Dive in the Dome party- grand opening celebration. This celebration will give the public the opportunity to learn more about the center by offering free admission all day long and will feature give-aways, demonstrations, and much more! The first 50 people to purchase a pool pass will receive a free gift!

Upon opening in January, the center will offer a variety of aquatic programs from swim lessons to programs like aqua Zumba and Mommy-and-me classes and will feature concessions and a gift shop. Hours for the Indoor Aquatic Center will be as follows:  Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 1:00pm then 3:00pm to 9:00pm, Saturday, 10:00am to 6:00pm, and Sunday, 1:00pm to 6:00pm.

Community Center to close for Maintenance and Repairs

Burt-Cobb Community Center, located at 1011 Franklin Street, will be closed beginning January 10th through January 23rd for annual maintenance and repairs. The center will resume normal hours and program schedule on January 24th.

Indoor Soccer program to be offered soon

Beginning January 15th, the Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road, will offer its eight week indoor soccer program to kids ages 4-12. Cost is $20.00 per child. Register today! For more information, please call 931-645-7476.

Silver Socials

Everyone ages 50 and up, come out to the Kleeman Community Center every 3rd Saturday of the month beginning January 15th from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Enjoy music, games and refreshments for only $2.00!

Zumba Instructor Wanted

The Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road, is currently seeking a zumba instructor for upcoming classes. If interested, please call the center at 931-647-3071.

Movies in the Park 2011

Want to have a say on what you see at Movies in the Park next summer? Please email your movie suggestions to our Special Events Coordinator at niki.crowe@cityofclarksville.com or add your suggestion to the Facebook page by searching Clarksville Movies in the Park. The only restrictions are that they cannot be Disney and must be on DVD by May 2010.
