Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

Swim for FREE

Join us from 2:00pm to 5:00pm January 29th at the Indoor Aquatic Center located at 166 Cunningham Lane for the Dive in the Dome celebration! The opening will feature give-a-ways, demonstrations, contests, and a free gift to the first 50 people to purchase a pool pass! The center will also offer FREE swimming to the public all day long from 10:00am to 6:00pm on opening day.

Also, pool pass prices have been reduced to reflect the shorter season.

Winter 2011 Season Pool Pass Pricing ­– January 29th through May 10th

1 Person: $  80.00
2 People: $110.00
3 People: $140.00
4 People: $170.00
5 People: $200.00
6 People: $210.00

Swim Lessons

The first session of swim lesson classes will begin February 14th at the new Indoor Aquatic Center located at 166 Cunningham Lane. Five comprehensive course levels will be offered, teaching you, your child or other family members how to swim safely and with skill. Classes are held Monday through Thursday, the last two weeks of the month. Times vary according to class level. Cost is $15.00 per two week session with the purchase of a pool pass or $35.00 without.   

Boot Camp Challenge – Price Drop!

Are you up for it? This six-week group fitness program will be led by qualified, insured professional personal trainers, who will focus on cardio, strength and conditioning, flexibility and nutrition. Program begins January 24th and meets from 4:30pm to 5:30pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Burt-Cobb Community Center. The cost was originally $230.00 per person but is now only $200.00 for the entire six weeks! Open to ages 18 and up. For more information please call 931-645-7476.

Spring Adult Softball Meeting Scheduled

Adult Spring Softball Registration begins soon with an organizational meeting at 2:00pm on January 29th at Burt-Cobb Community Center, 1011 Franklin Street. League participants, including coaches, sanctioning representatives, and umpires are invited to attend. There will be an opportunity to provide feedback on the individual league rules.

Spring Adult Co-Ed Kickball League

It’s not just for recess anymore! Teams will consist of 10 to 20 players. League play will begin March 28th at Heritage Park baseball fields. All games will be played on Monday nights. An organizational meeting for coaches and all who are interested has been scheduled for 2:00pm January 29th at the Burt-Cobb Community Center.

Silver Splash & Water Aerobics

Beginning January 31st, the Indoor Aquatic Center will begin offering Silver Splash, a 45 minute workout for those ages 50 and up.  This class combines gentle, yet effective aerobic exercises to help tone and strengthen muscles.  Classes are held Monday through Friday from 8:00pm to 8:45pm. Classes are $2.00 per class, $10.00 per week with the purchase of a pool pass, or $4.00 per class, $15.00 per week without.

Basic Water Aerobics will also be available soon at the center. This 45 minute class is aimed at improving tone, strength and mobility. Classes meet every day, Monday through Friday from 3:00pm to 3:45pm and 5:00pm to 5:45pm. The cost is $2.00 per class or $10.00 per week with the purchase of a pool pass, or $4.00 per class or $15.00 per week without.

Silver Fitness

Stay warm while getting in shape! If you’re 50 and up, join us at the Kleeman Community Center every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday morning from  10:00am to 11:00am for toning with weights.

*NEW* Aqua Zumba

Join us each Friday morning from 9:00am to 10:00am at the new Indoor Aquatic Center for Aqua Zumba! This class integrates the Zumba formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines. Cost is $3.00 per class, with or without the purchase of a pool pass. All fitness levels are welcome, no dancing or swimming skills required.
