A Reading by John Pursley III

As part of the Visiting Writers Series poet and essayist John Pursley III will give a reading from his poetry on Monday, January 24th, at 4:00 pm in the Morgan University Center. The reading is free and open to the public.

Pursley’s first full-length collection of poems, If You Have Ghosts, won the Zone 3 Editor’s Prize for Poetry. He is the author of four poetry chapbooks, and his work has appeared in many literary magazines including AGNI, Mississippi Review, and Poetry. He has won the Fugue Poetry Prize, the Southeast Review Poetry Prize, and the Sarah Lawrence College Campbell Corner Poetry Prize, among others. He lives in Greenville, South Carolina, and teaches creative writing at Clemson University.

A reception and book signing will follow the reading.

John Pursley III

John Pursley III is an Instructor at the University of Alabama, where he works as a poetry editor of Black Warrior Review. He is the author of one chapbook: When, by the Titanic (Portlandia Press). He won the louderARTS First Annual Awake at the Wheel Poetry Prize in 2005. His poems have appeared in many journals, including Poetry and Smartish Pace.
