Edmondson earns OVC Player and Newcomer of Week honors

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – TyShwan Edmondson, who compiled a pair of 20-point performances in Austin Peay State University’s weekend men’s basketball split, has been named Ohio Valley Conference Player and Newcomer of the Week.

It is the second time Edmondson has earned OVC Player of the Week honors this season and the sixth time he has captured the OVC Newcomer award.

The Hopkinsville, KY, native reached 20 points or better for the 11th and 12th time this season during the weekend as he raised his OVC-leading scoring average to 19.8 ppg.

For the week, he connected on 19 of 39 shots (48.7 percent), including 7-of-15 from three-point range (46.7 percent) in scoring 48 points. The guard also had 11 rebounds in the two games.

Tyshwan EdmondsonAfter foul trouble limited him to five first-half points (seven minutes) in the Governors home loss to Tennessee Tech, Edmondson scored 20 second-half points en route to 25-point in a contest where he also was team co-rebounding leader (six) while collecting two steals.

Then on Saturday against Jacksonville State, Edmondson finished 10 of 17 from the floor for 23 points in the Govs 80-66 win. He also tied for the team lead for assists (four) while also grabbing five rebounds.
