Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

Clarksville Sports Festival

Clarksville Sports FestivalThe City of Clarksville’s Parks & Recreation Department has teamed up with various partners, including Austin Peay State University Recreation, Legends Bank, Montgomery County Parks, churches and areas schools and coaches, to present Clarksville Sports Festival.

This two-day celebration of sports and athletics will be from 1:00pm to 9:00pm Friday, March 25th and Saturday, March 26th from 9:00am to 4:00pm at various locations on APSU’s campus. Festival-goers can visit vendors, watch demonstrations, and even participated in classes and clinics, all at no cost.

Nominate a Coach Today!

Clarksville Sports Festival Legends AwardsNominations are now being accepted for the first-ever Clarksville Sports Festival Legends Awards. The City of Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department and Legends Bank have partnered in an effort to honor both current and past coaches who are or have made a unique difference and solid contribution to sports and athletics in the Clarksville-Montgomery County area.

Nomination forms are available to pick up at the Parks & Recreation Main Office, downloaded or completed online at www.cityofclarksville.com/parks&rec/events.php. The deadline has been extended, all nomination forms must be received by 4:30pm on March 7th.

Seeking Vendors and Volunteers

Clarksville Sports FestivalClarksville Sports Festival is looking for businesses or organizations to participate as a vendor in one of the athletic zones at the event. This is a great opportunity to showcase your products and/or services to sports enthusiasts, coaches and parents. Register today by picking up a form at Parks & Recreation Department located at 102 Public Square or online at www.cityofclarksville.com/parks&rec/athletics.php. All forms must be returned no later than March 4th.

Volunteers are also needed to ensure a successful festival. We would love for you or your organization to help! Call 931-645-7476 to sign up today.

Kickball Registration Extended

KickballThe registration deadline for the Adult Spring Kickball league has been extended. Sign up now at the Parks & Recreation Main office, located at 102 Public Square.

Cost is $300.00 per team and must be paid in full by March 11th.

Blastball Meeting Scheduled

BlastballNew this year for the 3 to 4 year olds, we are offering “Blastball”.  This fun alternative to traditional T-ball uses a “honking” base to entertain younger players; adding excitement to the game. It concentrates on developing a child’s running, hitting, catching, fielding and throwing skills. To learn more about “Blastball”, Parks & Recreation will be conducting a meeting March 1st for parents and coaches. The meeting will begin at 6:00pm at the Burt Cobb Community Center, located at 1011 Franklin Street.

Archery is back!

ArcheryKleeman Community Center will begin offering two archery classes for youth grades 4-12. A beginner class will be held from 4:00pm to 5:00pm and an advanced class will be held from 5:00pm to 6:00pm on Monday nights.

The four-week session will begin March 7th. Cost is $10.00 per student.

Get Outdoors

Clarksville GreenwayJoin us at the Clarksville Greenway, located at the end of Pollard Road, from 8:00am to 9:00am Saturday, March 19th, for a guided nature hike. L. Dwayne Estes, an Austin Peay State University professor, will lead the way identifying plants and trees along the trail.
