Fort Campbell Soldier killed by IED device while on patrol

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – A 101st Airborne Division Soldier died of wounds after being struck by an improvised explosive device while on dismounted patrol March 9th near Haji Rahmuddin, Afghanistan.

Corporal Loren Miles Buffalo, 20, of Mountain Pine, AR was a Cavalry Scout assigned to Bravo Troop, 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He joined the Army in May 2009 and arrived at Fort Campbell in October 2009.

Loren Miles BuffaloHis awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal; the Purple Heart; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal and Combat Action Badge.

Buffalo is survived by his father, Cecil M. Buffalo of Mountain Pine, AR. and his mother, Anjanette D. Buffalo of West Bend, WI.

A memorial service will be held for Buffalo in Afghanistan. Fort Campbell holds a monthly Eagle Remembrance Ceremony to honor fallen Screaming Eagles. The next ceremony will be held April 6th at 4:00pm.
