Clarksville Academy Adds Football Staff

The Clarksville AcademyClarksville, TN – Clarksville Academy, a Pre-K through 12th grade private college preparatory school is excited to announce Jim Snider as the Defensive Coordinator for Clarksville Academy’s Football program.  Head football coach Todd Hood, announced Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011 that Jim Snider would join the Clarksville Academy family as Defensive Coordinator. Snider joins CA after enjoying great success as Clarksville High School’s Head Football Coach. 

Snider grew up in East Tennessee and enjoyed success as a player on the Farragut high school football team. He went on to play at Carson-Newman College in East Tennessee.  While there he served as a student coach when Carson-Newman took home the NAIA National Division 1 Championship in 1983. 

Snider coached for Clarksville High School for 12 years, six of those years as the Head Football Coach.  He has also coached at Northwest, Austin Peay State University and Carson-Newman College. “I’ve followed Coach Snider’s career for many years and am excited to see what he will do for our defensive program” says Matt Wallace, Athletic Director. 

Todd Hood, Head Football Coach, is thrilled to gain an asset like Snider for the CA program. “I have known Jim for 18 years and he is a great coach, leader, and Christian.” Snider’s successes in the coaching profession are numerous.  He has been named 2005’s All Area Coach of the Year, All Area Co-Coach of the Year in 2006, Tennessee Titans Coach of the week and coached the Football Region 6 Class 4A Champions in 2007 and has coached 10 straight State Playoff Games, the most in Montgomery County history. 

Todd Hood commented, “Snider can take our defense to new levels and allow me to focus on other areas such as special teams. CA is putting together a first class coaching staff and it has our players and community excited about what is to come for the Cougars. In addition to new coaching staff, we have just completed our winter program.  Our players have improved drastically in their lifting, quickness, and their 40 yard times. Now we are entering our spring training where we will continue to focus on technique, speed and agility. We look forward to official spring practice beginning May 9th.”

Snider is married to Trina and has three children, Katie, Andrew & Alex. Together they embrace this new adventure at Clarksville Academy. 

Todd Hood  is also pleased to announce the addition of John Anderson as Defensive Backs Coach for Football.  Anderson grew up in South Carolina and is a graduate of the Career College Institute where he earned his certification as a personal trainer. Anderson is also certified with the Bigger, Faster, Stronger program, a program that enables coaches to train athletes to their highest potential gaining amazing results. He formerly served as the strength and conditioning coach for the West Creek High School Varsity and JV football teams, and coached the JV football team at Fort Campbell High School.  He has also coached youth football and basketball at the Taylor Youth Center at Fort Campbell.

“John has a great work ethic and is dedicated to seeing to the Cougars become better players. He will work hard to ensure each player reaches their maximum potential” stated Hood on Wednesday.  Anderson is used to winning championships.

In 2010, West Creek JV won the championship with Anderson coaching, while Fort Campbell won Varsity and JV championships in 2007 with Anderson on the staff. Coach Anderson is excited to be at Clarksville Academy, and believes with hard work, dedication, and teamwork the Cougars too will have a championship season in 2011.

Matt Wallace, Athletic Director is looking forward to an exciting year of football at CA. “Anderson & Snider are wonderful additions to our football program.  Both men have excellent coaching records and bring something valuable to our coaching staff.  Todd Hood has done an excellent job securing quality coaches for the Cougars and I’m excited to see what the 2011 season brings to Clarksville Academy.”
