224 Soldiers with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team Returned Saturday Night

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – On Saturday night around 9:30pm 224 soldiers with the  2nd Brigade Combat Team Returned to Campbell Army Airfield to a large crowd of screaming family and friends.  Once the plane arrived on the runway, you could hear the cheers from everyone standing just outside the hanger waiting for the first sighting of their soldier.

 As soldiers stepped off the plane and were greeted back to Fort Campbell and filed just outside the hanger, they were also greeted by a few wounded soldiers from their unit.  1LT Cameron Keer, who made his way back from Walter Reed Army Hospital so he could be there to welcome home the soldiers from his unit.  There were lots of hugs and hand shakes as the soldiers made there way past then enroute to dropping their gear and forming up to march inside.

Once inside, Brigadier General Jeffrey N. Colt welcomed everyone home in a short speech to the soldiers. Afterwards everyone was allowed 15 minutes of family time. Once the soldiers were released, family members raced to the hanger floor to embrace their soldiers. Sarah Kull was eager to find her husband PFC Charles Kull to introduce their 16 day of child. They are looking to get settled down and adjust to being a family.

1LT Cameron Keer had the opportunity to meet up with his medic Keith Garcia who had helped him when injured in Afghanistan and his family. He told the Garcia family that their son did a wonderful job of staying calm and doing everything that he was suposed to do.  

The next scheduled flight is set to arrive at Campbell Army Airfield on  April 6th, 2011 at 5:45am.  If you wish to attend a Welcome Home Ceremony, check the flight schedules online, as times are subject to change at any time. When arriving to Fort Campbell, enter via Gate 7; if you don’t have installation stickers on your vehicle, you will be required to get a visitor pass. From there just follow the signs to the ceremony parking. Waiting buses transport the Family members safely to the hanger.
