Nashville, TN - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has charged a Dickson County man with criminal homicide for the April 1st, 2011 murder of a 79-year-old woman in her home in Dickson, Tennessee.
Edgar Ray Bettis, 65, of Dickson, Tennessee, was arrested by authorities in Jackson, Mississippi on auto theft charges after he was caught traveling through Jackson on Saturday April 2nd, 2011 the day after the murder.
Last week, TBI obtained a warrant for Bettis’s arrest for the strangulation death of Frankie Hudson.
Bettis rented a home in the community where Hudson was the landlord and went to pay his rent for the month late that afternoon when an argument and physical altercation ensued between them. After Bettis killed Hudson, he stole her vehicle, packed a bag and left the state. He has been in the Hinds County Jail in Mississippi since April 2nd, 2011.
Bettis was extradited from Mississippi and charged with murder. He was booked into the Dickson County Jail on bond.
