Titans 2011 Schedule Released

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak will make his head coaching debut at Jacksonville on September 11th as the team opens the year against the Jaguars. Munchak’s first home game will come the following week against the Baltimore Ravens on September 18th.

“It’s always exciting when you first get the schedule,” said head coach Mike Munchak. “I think it’s great to play a division game right away and open up with Jacksonville, like we have three out of the last five years now. It makes the opener that much more significant that we get a division opponent right away.”

“It’s nice coming back for two in a row at home after Jacksonville. Obviously we have quite a history with the Ravens, and then you look at the first half of the schedule as a whole, it’s like being in the old AFC Central again. So it’s exciting, and we have a lot to look forward to and a lot to prepare for.”

“For me as a coach and as a player, I’ve always loved playing the noon games. We’ve got 15 out of 16 that start at noon, and I like the consistency of that, the fact that you just get up, get dressed and go to the stadium and play. I think guys really enjoy doing it that way rather than sitting and waiting to play later in the day.”

The Titans schedule features home games against Baltimore, Cincinnati, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis and Jacksonville. Tennessee will travel to Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Carolina, Buffalo, Houston, Indianapolis and Jacksonville.

Again this year, the NFL will feature “flexible scheduling” for the Sunday night game in Weeks 11-17. Teams will be given two weeks notice if a game is moving from an afternoon game to a night contest.

The Titans 2011 schedule contains several interesting stories:

The schedule features six games against 2010 playoff teams: Indianapolis (twice), Baltimore, New Orleans, Pittsburgh and Atlanta.

  • The Titans will host both New Orleans and Tampa Bay at home for a regular season game for the first time since 2003.
  • The Titans will make their first regular season trips to Carolina and Atlanta since 2003.
  • This is the first season without a primetime game on the Titans schedule since 2006.
  • The Titans finish the season with three consecutive games against division opponents.
  • The Titans open the season against the Jaguars for the third time in five years.
