Faculty at APSU receive awards, present papers, gain appointments

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Several faculty members at Austin Peay State University recently presented at conferences, received awards or represented the University in some way.

Dr. Stuart Bonnington, professor of psychology, recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Tennessee Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

Dr. Jody Piro and Dr. Tammy Shutt, faculty members in the College of Education, presented two papers, “Using Student Achievement Data in Teacher and Principal Evaluations: A Policy Study” and “Teacher Effectiveness in a Post Race-to-the-Top Paradigm,” at the National Council of Professors of Educational Administration conference (NCPEA) held in April in Tampa, FL.

Dr. Perry Scanlan, director of the medical technology program, has been appointed clinical practice editor of the Clinical Laboratory Science, the journal of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science. The appointment is a three-year term, with a maximum of two consecutive terms.

Dr. Dixie J. Webb, interim dean of the College of Arts and Letters, will be a presenter at the fifth annual Quilt Show scheduled for April 29th-May 1st at The Homeplace at Land Between The Lakes in Golden Pond, KY. She will discuss and display vintage 19th century fabrics, the printing processes and the history of the development of dyes that determined what colors and prints were available to quilters in the 19th century.
