Fort Campbell, KY – It was a busy day at Campbell Army Airfield as four flights returned soldiers just in time for Easter Sunday. The last plane of the day carried 113 soldiers with the 1st Brigade Combat Team.
Family and friends gathered just outside hanger 3 to cheer for their loved ones as they made way toward the crowd.
As soldiers stepped off the plane, they made way past the wounded soldiers who were on hand to welcome them home.Once everyone dropped their gear, they formed up to march inside hanger 3 for the official Welcome Home Ceremony. Once the hanger doors opened, soldiers marched in while the band played and the crowd cheered.
Once inside the hanger Brigadier General Jeffrey N. Colt welcomed everyone home in a short speech to the soldiers. Afterwards everyone was allowed 15 minutes of family time before heading back to their unit to turn in their gear.
Nicole Beight was so excited to finally have her husband SPC Nathan Beight home, she said that It’s beyond words and don’t seem real as she described her excitement.
