Oak Grove, KY- It was just after closing time as employees where leaving to go home for the night, when the manager Kiki had just locked up and was leaving the parking lot when she seem smoke and moments later flames were coming through the roof of the Historic Charlie’s Steak House.
According to Oak Grove’s Deputy Fire Chief Bill Johnson the call came in at approximately 9:20pm. It is not known at this time the cause of the fire. It’s believed to have started in the kitchen area of the restaurant.
Oak Grove Police and Christan County Sheriffs Deputies closed Fort Campbell Blvd from Sonic to just south of Hwy 911. Oak Grove Fire Department also closed Hwy 911 so fire fighters could have access the fire hydrants needed to fight the fire.
There were approximately 40 fire fighter from Oak Grove, Herndon and the Fort Campbell Fire Departments along with Oak Grove EMS working to put out the fire that burned into the morning. Just before 1:ooam, firefighter pulled back as storms packing high winds were moving into the area. Oak Grove fire fighters stayed at the scene even as the heavy rains rolled in.
