Five Car Crash on Kraft Street

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On 4-28-11 around 9:00am, one car set off a chain of events which resulted in a five vehicle crash. A bus in the southbound lane of Kraft Street was stopped waiting to make a left turn onto 8th Street.

A Dodge Charger was stopped behind the bus and a Nissan Frontier was preparing to stop behind the Dodge. A Hyundai, driven by Jason Meeks, was traveling southbound on Kraft Street and collided with the rear end of the Nissan pushing it forward into the Dodge.

The driver of the Dodge saw the Nissan moving forward and moved to the right in an attempt to avoid being hit. The Nissan hit the Dodge at an angle and then collided with the school bus in the driver side rear bumper. After the Nissan glanced off of the bus, he entered the northbound lane of Kraft Street and hit a northbound Pontiac in the driver’s side door. 

The driver of the Pontiac, Rhonda Beal, 50, was taken by ambulance to Gateway with non-life threatening injuries. The occupants of the Nissan, Charles Haley (driver), 47 and Rachel Rogers (passenger), 50 were taken by a friend to the hospital to be medically checked.

The driver of the Dodge, Anton Jones, 27 and Hyundai driver, Jason Meeks were uninjured. The driver of the bus, John Martin, 55  and of the 15 passengers (7 adults and 8 juveniles) of the bus were uninjured.

Jason Meeks cited for Failure to use due Care and Anton Jones was cited for Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance.

The lead investigator is Officer Mike Caver.
