Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Josh Roberts, who served as Austin Peay State University’s running backs coach since 2006, has resigned his position to pursue further education endeavors.

He came to APSU in 2006 as a graduate assistant before being elevated into fulltime status. He coached APSU all-time rushing leader and All-Ohio Valley Conference running back Chris Fletcher during his final two seasons and the Govs’ most recent All-OVC running back selections, Ryan White and Terrence Holt, since their respective APSU career’s inception.

“Josh has been a tremendous asset to this football staff,” APSU coach Rick Christophel said. “He developed into a really good football coach and one heck of a recruiter.

“He is making a decision that is best for his future. He has great administrative skills and is making this move while he is young.  Wherever he lands, he will be successful.”

Roberts, who played locally at Northeast High School, enjoyed a solid football career at Lambuth, where he played fullback and was a tight end/H-back.

Christophel quickly will evaluate his staff’s composition and look to fill the position as soon as possible.
