Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University head volleyball coach Bill Egbert announced the addition of four student-athletes for the 2011 campaign. Cami Fields, of Dallas, TX; Liz Landon, of Northridge, CA; Hillary Plybon, of Orrville, OH and Jada Stotts, of Hoffman Estates, IL, have each signed national letters of intent.

Landon, a 5-11 middle blocker, led Granada Hills Charter High School to the 2010 California Interscholastic Federation Division I State Tournament. She finished her senior campaign with 182 kills (1.90 per game) and 86 blocks en route to all-city (CIF Los Angeles City Section) honors for the second consecutive season.

Plybon, a 5-10 middle blocker, was named second-team All-Ohio, Division III District IV Player of the Year and Ohio Cardinal Conference Offensive Player of the Year at Orrville High School. She led the Red Raiders to a district championship with 367 kills and 51 solo blocks. Plybon finished her career with 890 kills and 535 blocks, finishing third in Orrville history in kills behind professional volleyball player Erica Short and her sister Erin Short who is playing at Eastern Michigan.

Stotts, a 5-9 outside hitter, was a three-time all-conference and all-area selection at Hoffman Estates High School, which reached the regional finals in 2010. She finished her senior campaign with 342 kills, 302 digs and 65 blocks. Stotts also was a superb basketball player, finishing with 1,056 career points and averaging 12.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as a senior. She also competed in the long jump and 400-meter relay, posting a school-record in the long jump.

“We are very excited with the 2011 class,” said Egbert. “The four women we are bringing in have been playing at a high level all spring and we know they will make the transition to the college game quite easily this fall.  They are a strong group physically and talent-wise, and they bring four distinct but wonderful personalities to our family here at Austin Peay.  We know they are going to contribute in big ways this fall and cannot wait to get them on campus.”

The quartet of newcomers will join a group of 10 returnees from a Lady Govs squad that finished with a 26-8 overall mark and placed second in the Ohio Valley Conference’s regular-season race with a 14-4 record. Austin Peay won the OVC Tournament Championship for only the second time in program history and played in the NCAA Volleyball Championship for the first time in program history.
