New Information Systems Director Announced

 

Montgomery CountyMontgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Mayor’s Office is pleased to announce that Kurt Bryant has been selected as director of Information Systems. Kurt most recently served as a Networking Contractor for Metro Nashville Schools, Nashville, Tennessee following a 30-year career with IBM.  He brings almost 35 years of experience in the technology arena to Montgomery County Government.

Kurt is a graduate of Clarksville High School and holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, Tennessee.

Sounds, Rainiers Washed Out Wednesday

 

Teams Will Wrap Up Series With Thursday Twinbill

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – Wednesday evening’s scheduled game between the Nashville Sounds and Tacoma Rainiers at Cheney Stadium was rained out and will be made up as part of an 8:00pm CT doubleheader on Thursday.

The teams will play a pair of seven-inning games Thursday to close out their four-game series.

Right-hander Amaury Rivas (3-3, 3.73) will start for Nashville in the opener and face Tacoma right-hander Blake Beavan (1-1, 5.76). Left-hander Sam Narron (2-1, 3.30) will man the bump for the Sounds in the nightcap to square off against Rainiers right-hander Charlie Haeger, who will make his first appearance of the season.

Austin Peay State University GovernorsJackson, TN – Austin Peay State University starting pitcher Jeremy Dobbs was named the Ohio Valley Conference’s “Pitcher of the Year,” head coach Gary McClure received his fifth “Coach of the Year” citation and 10 Austin Peay baseball student-athletes received postseason recognition, the league office announced during the postseason baseball awards banquet, Tuesday night.

A Salute to Freedom

Eagle Fest 2011Dover, TN – The 3rd Annual Eagle Fest will be held May 28th through May 30th in Downtown Dover Tennessee. This years event includes a Carnival that starts May 26th at 5:00pm with a Family Fun Night.

On Saturday, the Eagle Fest Parade starts at 10:00am at the Baptist Church and comes down by the courthouse. The parade is followed by the Opening Ceremony on the Main Stage with special guest speaker Vicki Yates of News Channel 5. The Main Stage and Carnival will be located at the Gateway Ford parking lot.

Liberty Park Boat Ramp to open Memorial Day Weekend

 

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department will open a portion of Liberty Park for Memorial Day Weekend.  The brand new, four-lane boat ramp and two boat docks will be open Saturday, May 28th, through Monday, May 30th, from 7:00am to 8:00pm, as well as every following Saturday and Sunday.

Sounds Announce 2011 Purity Faith Nights® Schedule

CFTC Charges Parnon Energy Inc., Arcadia Petroleum Ltd. and Arcadia Energy (Suisse) SA with Price Manipulation in the Crude Oil Market

 

Complaint alleges cross-market trading scheme in 2008 involving accumulation and sell-off of a substantial position in physical crude oil to manipulate futures prices, yielding in excess of $50 million in unlawful profits for defendants. James Dyer and Nick Wildgoose, who directed the manipulative trading scheme alleged in the complaint, are also charged.

Washington, DC – The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today filed a civil enforcement action in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York against Parnon Energy Inc. (Parnon) of California, Arcadia Petroleum Ltd. (Arcadia Petroleum) of the United Kingdom, Arcadia Energy (Suisse) SA (Arcadia Suisse) of Switzerland, James T. Dyer of Australia and Nicholas J. Wildgoose of California, charging them with unlawfully manipulating and attempting to manipulate New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) crude oil futures prices from January 2008 to April 2008.

As alleged in the CFTC complaint, during the relevant period defendants traded futures and other contracts that were priced off of the price of West Texas Intermediate light sweet crude oil (WTI). WTI is delivered to commercial users at Cushing, OK, a major crude oil delivery point. The price of WTI is a benchmark for crude oil prices around the world, and the supply of WTI at Cushing is an important driver of WTI price. «Read the rest of this article»

Proposed Montgomery County Budget for 2011-2012

 

Montgomery CountyMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County has experienced unprecedented growth in recent years and continues to work to keep up with demands on services, public safety and schools. In the 2010-2011 school year, the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System experienced an increase of over 700 students. If the student population increase continues as it has over the last several years, the school system will top 30,000 students in the upcoming school year.

It was recently released that the Per Capita Personal Income for Montgomery County has increased to $38,270, placing Montgomery County as 4th in the state. With this increase comes a decrease in BEP* funding for schools of around $2.5M. «Read the rest of this article»

Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder recognizes local World War II Veteran

 

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

Nashville, TN – Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs (TDVA) Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder has recognized a decorated World War II veteran who never received his medals.

Private First Class Henry Cathey served in the United States Army from November 1942 to September 1945, serving in Northern France, Central Europe, Ardennes, Rhineland and Normandy.  He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and earned the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal (with 1 silver star and 1 bronze star), the WWII Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
