Clarksville Unity Day Celebration

Clarksville, TN – Join with Clarksville Area Churches for a Celebration of our Unity at 1st Assembly of God Church on June 4th 2011 from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. Last year Gospel Music Legend Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones was honored along with several local pastors and non-profit organizations each of whom who strive to positively impact the Clarksville community. Hosts Yolanda Stewart and Kevin Kennedy will return as the hosts for the 2011 Celebration of Unity Day that will be held at 1st Assembly of God Church located at 1186 Fort Campbell Blvd.

The purpose of this event is to unite our diverse Clarksville/Fort Campbell community and to celebrate the accomplishments of our civic leadership. We also pay recognition to our hard working non-profit organizations.  The event promotes unity among family as well as peace among people of all walks of life with a focus on family values and multiculturalism.

This year’s Ambassador’s Choice 2011 Award Recipients are Austin Peay’s Athletic Director Dave Loos, Commanding General 101st Airborne Division Maj. Gen. John F. Campbell, and National Recording Artist Pastor Wess Morgan.

The 2011 Pastoral Honorees are Pastor Louie & Mrs. Linda Montoya of 1st Assembly of God Church, Pastors Timothy W. & Stephanie Y. Grant of Deliverance Outreach Temple, Pastors Randy & April Lopshire of Clarksville Family Bible Church, Pastor Angela R. Jones of Greenhill Church, Bishop Anthony and First Lady Latrina Alfred, Pastor Greg Plummer of Clarksville International Church, and Rev. Alvin & First Lady Dominik Miller of St John Missionary Baptist Church.

The American Red Cross, Unity Christian Academy, The LEAP Organization, The Lamb of God Radio Outreach Ministry, The Light House Ministry, Adult Literacy Council, and the United Way of Clarksville will be honored for their diligent servitude to the community.

The Unity Day Celebration is free and open to the public. Praise Dancers and Choirs from churches throughout the community will be performing. Entertainment also includes 101st Army Band, Toney Dabney, Comedienne Simone James, J-Rad, Sonimar Nieves, Velma Jo Williams, and special tributes by Elizabeth “Lizzie” Morgan as well as Mother Cranberry & Sis Haddie Mae. We encourage Clarksville residents from all walks of life to come fellowship with us as we take a moment to celebrate the collaborative efforts of our honorees who strive to make a difference in our community.

City Councilman Richard "Reason" Garrett has gained extensive business knowledge and negotiating skills as the Executive Director of the LEAP Organization.  LEAP Org provides youth development services.  As a licensed realtor for Keller Williams Realty, he is known for his tenacity, perseverance, honesty, and fairness.  A proud APSU alum, Richard graduated with Honors with a Bachelors in Public Management.
Richard is a former active duty Marine, father of 4, and a husband with strong ties to the community. He is a graduate of Leadership Clarksville and a member of Clarksville Rotary, Clarksville Area Ministerial Association, Chamber of Commerce, Clarksville Association of Realtors Public Relations & Charity Relations Committees, and Clarksville Community Partners Group.
