Liberty Park Boat Ramps Open to the Public

Liberty Park - Clarksville MarinaClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department opened a portion of Liberty just in time for the Memorial Day Weekend.  The brand new, four-lane boat ramp and two boat docks is open through Monday, May 30th, from 7:00am to 8:00pm, as well on Saturday’s and Sunday’s going forward.

There are approximately 40 parking spots will be available for vehicles and boat trailers. Patrons will not be allowed to park on the surrounding grass areas. Clarksville Police officers will be on site to assist with traffic control, parking and boating safety.

For the solo boaters, there are two floating docks to tie your boat up to after you put it in the water allowing you to easily go park your vehicle.

Brian Nelson loves the new Liberty Park Boat Ramp. “I normally put in at McGregor Park or Trices Landing, but the facilities are just not adequate for what I do with the expense of the boat that you have, and everything else,” he said.  Nelson is also the Tournament Director for the Tuckasee Bass Anglers who until the closing of Fairgrounds Park held a weekly bass tournament out of  there. They are looking forward to being able to resume holding their tournaments out of the Liberty Park Boat Ramps.

The entire Marina Basin is a strict “No Wake Zone,” and all boating regulations must be observed while transiting it. To get up to date on the applicable boating regulations visit Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s website at www.tn.gov/twra/boatingregs.html.

The boat ramp and boat docks are the only portions of Liberty Park that will be open to the public at this time. Residents are asked to stay clear of the under construction areas, and to only use the boat ramps. “We recognize that the citizens of Clarksville-Montgomery County are an active boating community, and to open this dock and ramp will allow many more to safely enjoy our waters, especially on a holiday weekend, said Mark Tummons, director of Parks & Recreation. “Our anticipation is that various portions of the park will open during the next few months to more than just boaters.”
