Govs to host Baseball Peay Pairings Party at Blackhorse

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s athletics department will host a “Peay Pairings Party”, beginning 11:00am, Monday, at Blackhorse Pub & Brewery downtown.

The Peay Pairings Party is an open viewing party for Austin Peay fans, students and alumni, giving them an opportunity to meet, greet and watch the NCAA Baseball Championship selection show with the Ohio Valley Conference regular-season and tournament champions. The selection show begins at 11:30am (CT), Monday on ESPN.

Austin Peay became the first team in OVC to win both the regular-season and tournament titles one year after failing to make the tournament the previous season. The Govs won the 2011 OVC regular-season title by 2½ games after being selected to finish seventh in the league’s preseason poll. As the No. 1 seed, the Govs won three straight games en route to their fourth OVC tournament title.

Jack SnodgrassSenior starter Jack Snodgrass was named the Tournament’s “Most Valuable Player” after a career-best 11-strikeout performance in Friday’s 4-1 victory against Jacksonville State.

He was joined on the all-tournament team by first baseman John Hogan, center fielder Michael Blanchard, designated hitter Cody Hudson, starting pitcher Jeremy Dobbs and reliever Ryne Harper.
