101st Airborne 4th Brigade Combat Team Soldier killed in Afghanistan

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionAnthony M. NunnFort Campbell, KY – A 101st Airborne Division Soldier died May 30th, of wounds suffered from an improvised explosive device while on dismounted patrol in Nike District, Paktika Province, Afghanistan.

Private First Class Anthony M. Nunn, 19, of Burnet, Texas, was an Infantryman assigned to Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He joined the Army in June 2010 and arrived at Fort Campbell in October 2010. His awards and decorations include: National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; and Army Service Ribbon.

Private First Class Anthony M. Nunn has been awarded posthumously: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge.

Nunn is survived by his father, Ted A. Nunn of Gainsville, TX;  mother, Christina Bennefield of Prosper, TX; brother, Matthew A. Nunn of Gainesville, Texas and sister, Savanna R. Nunn of Prosper, TX.

A memorial service will be held for the fallen in Afghanistan. Fort Campbell holds a monthly Eagle Remembrance Ceremony to honor fallen Screaming Eagles. The next ceremony will be held June 8th at 4:00pm.
