Man Lifeflighted after Falling Out of the back of a Pickup while Delivering Ads

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – Today around 11:30am, Michael Vernon King, 62, of Oak Grove, KY and his son, Joshua King, 23 were in a 99 Dodge Pickup delivering advertisements to the residences on Elkmont Drive.

Michael King was driving down the center of the road and his son was in the bed of the pickup throwing the papers into the yards.

When a vehicle crested a hill traveling in the opposite direction, Michael King swerved to get back into his lane, and Joshua lost his balance causing him to fall from the pickup onto the asphalt roadway near 2596 Elkmont Drive.

The injuries that he sustained were from falling from the pickup onto the asphalt; he was not hit by the oncoming vehicle.

Joshua King was taken by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt with head trauma and is in critical condition.

Michael Vernon King was charged with:

  • Failure to use Reasonable Care
  • Expired Tag
  • Expired Driver License

The lead investigator is Officer Bill Van Beber.
