Carroll Homers For Nashville’s Only Hit In 1-0 Victory

Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds were held to only one hit on Thursday night at Greer Stadium, but it was a big one. Outfielder Brett Carroll crushed a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 1-0 victory over the Round Rock Express in the finale of a four-game set.

On the second pitch from Derek Hankins, Carroll blasted his ninth home run down the left field line to end the no-hit bid. The homer was Carroll’s second straight game with a homer.

With the win, Nashville (30-36) took three of four games from Round Rock in the series. All four games of the series were decided by one run.

Heritage Days coming this Weekend

Guthrie, KY – The annual Guthrie Heritage Days Celebration will be held this coming weekend, June 18th-19th. A raffle will take place with donated gifts as prizes. Bundy, Sarbaugh to lead PCL, IL in 2011 Triple-A All-Star Game

Round Rock, TX – Lorenzo Bundy, first-year manager of the Pacific Coast League’s Albuquerque Isotopes, and Mike Sarbaugh, second-year manager of the Columbus Clippers of the International League, have been named managers of their respective league’s All-Star teams for the 2011 Triple-A All-Star Game.

The game, presented by Zions Banks and Workers Compensation Fund, will air live on MLB Network on Wednesday, July 13th from Spring Mobile Ballpark in Salt Lake City, Utah, home of the PCL’s Salt Lake Bees.

Riverside Drive Two Mile Yard Sale Starts Tomorrow

Clarksville, TN – There will be a Two Mile Yard Sale held along Riverside Drive June 17th and 18th starting at 7:00am and running into the early afternoon. It will be the first occurrence with hopefully many more to come. Most local businesses will be setting up sale areas at their businesses.

Yonkers, NY – The Infiniti G25 and Buick Regal Turbo and scored “Excellent” and “Very Good” overall road test scores, respectively,  in Consumer Reports’ testing of a group of four sports sedans, outpointing competitors from Volvo and Audi.

The G25 now ranks second overall in Consumer Reports’ recent tests of 13 sports sedans, behind the larger engine Infiniti G37. The G37 was CR’s Top Pick in the sports sedan category in the Annual April Auto Issue.

Tennessee Awarded Permit to allow trapping of one Peregrine Falcon for use in Falconry

Nashville, TN – This year, for the first time, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has awarded Tennessee one permit allowing the trapping of one Peregrine falcon for the use in falconry.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will award this permit to the winner of a draw to be held on Wednesday, August 31st, 2011. Falconers may go to TWRA’s website under the Hot Topics section and locate the print-ready application. Day 2 of the Fair: Kent Family Magic Circus and Monster Trucks

Clarksville, TN – Day Two of the Fair at the Clarksville Speedway  featured more monster trucks in the arena and the Kent Family Magic Circus performed three shows despite an early round of showers.  The rain didn’t keep people away as many made their way to the Fair Wednesday night.

As the huge monsters trucks race around the track and running over smashed cars, and jumping the dirt mounds, the crowd watched as Ballistic rolled during one event on day two of the fair.  Meanwhile in the midway the Kent Family Magic Circus was drawing a crowd as well as they performed many acts including tight rope, juggling, Hola Hoops, Disappearing balloons, balancing acts and much more.

Central Avenue Closed

Clarksville, TN – Central Avenue is closed to all traffic from Crossland Avenue to Woodard Street for sewer service line repair. Gas and Water construction workers will detour motorists to Crossland and Woodard.

The repair work is anticipated to be complete and the road reopened by 2:30pm.
