Campbell Crossing Expands Recycling Program

Encourages Residents to take advantage of the ease of use

Campbell CrossingFort Campbell, KY – Starting on June 20th, 2011, Campbell Crossing residents will have an opportunity to benefit from the Community’s new, expanded recycling program. The recycling program, which has been established at Campbell Crossing for 5 years has expanded to include plastics 1 and 2, which include most beverage bottles and various consumer product packaging. The program will continue to accept paper, cardboard and aluminum cans.

Waste Industries, Campbell Crossing’s waste management contractor, will provide all 4,500 homes with a new, blue, 60-gallon recycling bin to collect the recyclable material.  Residents should place their bin at the curb on their respective waste pick-up days, so that Waste Industries can haul its contents to the Bi-County Recycling Center.

“We see the expanded recycling program as a true win-win scenario,” said Mike Goodwin, deputy project director for Campbell Crossing. “By expanding our program to include such a common recyclable material, the entire community benefits.  We look forward to working with our partners both on post and off over the coming years to continue to grow our sustainability programs together.”

How does Waste Management, according to this article, get to accept other plastic packaging as in, “to include most beverage bottles and various consumer product packaging?”
