Barnes, Pitts Announce Arts Grants

Four Montgomery County organizations receive $37,100 total

The Seal of the State of TennesseeClarksville, TN – State Senator Tim Barnes and State Representative Joe Pitts announced Friday the four Montgomery County recipients of Tennessee Arts Commission grants for the upcoming fiscal year.

“These deserving organizations provide opportunities for our citizens to both create and enjoy the arts,” Pitts said. “I am pleased to see our citizens and our officials continue to support these staples of our community.”

Austin Peay State University, Clarksville Parks and Recreation and the Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development Council all received Arts Project Support grants ranging from $2,000 to $5,300. Roxy Productions in Clarksville received a Partnership Support grant of $26,800.

In all, the commission will award more than 950 grants worth more than $7.3 million. Sales of specialty license plates supporting the commission account for $5.4 million of the grant awards, in addition to state and federal funds.

“It’s great to see so much public support of the arts in our area, whether it be in theaters, community centers or on the back of someone’s car,” Barnes said. “Tennessee has a thriving arts community thanks to the work of the commission and our dedicated citizens.”
