Clarksville Firefighters Remodel Station 6

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Clarksville Fire Rescue will have an Open House at 11:00am Thursday, June 23rd, at Station 6, located at 8 Asbury Road, just off Fort Campbell Boulevard across from Cunningham Lane.

The station has been remodeled by Fire Rescue personnel, who have also built a 900-square-foot addition that serves as a dormitory with office space and fitness equipment. Station 6 was built in 1968 for an Engine Company of one fire truck and three firefighters.

Today, it houses an Engine Company, a District Chief, a rescue unit and six firefighters. Additionally, it houses Engine 60, which is an aerial truck, a rescue truck and the District Chief’s vehicle.

CFR personnel did a complete kitchen makeover, installed ceramic tile throughout the station, replaced the drop ceiling with sheetrock and added energy-efficient lights. Some work, such as masonry and installation of an updated heating and air conditioning system, had to be subcontracted. The HVAC system was paid for with grant money.

Additionally, Street Department personnel prepared the site for the addition and later will clear some property for more parking.

Fire officials said the project cost was about $22,500, which came from the 2010-2011 operations budget. They estimate that the volunteer efforts of the firefighters saved from $68,000 to $90,000 if the work was contracted.
