This was the second part of a comprehensive four day Department of Homeland Security training program designed to provide jurisdictions with the tools necessary to conduct threat and risk assessments for terrorism/all hazards incidents. The training focused on the jurisdictional process for determining the ability to respond to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, explosive, and all-hazards events.

The participants also were instructed on the development of needs assessments to fill shortfalls/gaps which were identified.  Once the representatives from the agencies were taught to conduct the threat/risk assessment, they were afforded the opportunity to use their new founded skills.

They conducted on-site risk and threat assessment inspections at various locations throughout Clarksville using the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency risk management process. The participants identified threats and hazards to the sites, identified vulnerabilities, the consequences of terrorist threats, and man-made and natural hazards are estimated, and then options were identified for methods for reductions of those identified shortfalls.

Everyone walked away with new skills which will enhance the safety of our community.
