Three APSU faculty, staff members recognized for achievement

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Three faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University are being noted for recent achievements.

Chris Burawa, director of the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, and Dr. Loretta Griffy, associate professor of mathematics, have been selected to participate in the 2011-12 Leadership Clarksville class.

Dr. L. Dwayne Estes, associate professor of botany, was recently named winner of the 2011 Richard and Minnie Windler Award for his article “Viburnum,” published in the June 2010 issue of Castanea, the journal of the Southern Appalachian Botanical Society. According to the society’s website, “The Richard and Minnie Windler Award was established in 1990 at the annual meeting of the SABS by Dr. Donald R. Windler of Towson University as a memorial to his parents. The award is presented annually to the author or authors of the best systematic botany paper published in Castanea during the previous year.”
