Cook and his team medically prepared more than 19,000 Soldiers to deploy to Afghanistan and continue to medically redeploy Soldiers home. More than 14,000 Soldiers have returned and received medical reintegration with another 4,000 due to go through the process from now through August.

The Army Surgeon Gen. presented the Surgeon General’s Excalibur award to Cook for asthma health and education wellness in 2010. BACH also received an Excalibur award for breast health initiatives in 2009.

Under Cook’s leadership, the Army selected Fort Campbell to open in Clarksville, Tenn. the first of the Army’s 17 community-based primary care clinics, known as the Screaming Eagle Medical Home. This patient-centered care model places healthcare in the community where many of BACH’s beneficiaries live.
