Communities Come Together To Fight Crime
Fort Campbell KY – On August 2nd, 2011, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Campbell Crossing (CCLLC,) will join other military installations and communities throughout the United States by encouraging residents to lock their doors, turn on exterior lights, and spend the evening outside with their neighbors and law enforcement personnel.
The event will focus on keeping communities safe and how to prevent crime from happening in their neighborhoods.
This year’s event will feature CCLLC’s winner of the National Anthem Singing Facebook Contest where Residents uploaded videos of them singing the National Anthem. The video with the most “like” was chosen to kick off NNO with eh singing of our National Anthem. Various organizations will have booth set up to offer event goers important information on many topics.
Other attractions include a bike rodeo and K-9 Police dog exhibit, and presentations on fire safety offered by the Fort Campbell Fire Department. The event will take place at the Village Commons on Forrest Avenue.
“This is a great opportunity for our residents to build stronger relationships with the Police and Fire Departments as well as get to know their neighbors,” said Karissa Poe Community Services Coordinator for CCLLC. “As we have had in the past, we expect thousands of people to join in on the fun, while at the same time, learn how to make their communities a safer place.”
National Night Out involves over 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. Last year over 34 million people participated in “America’s Night Out Against Crime.”
