Eastman set to serve week-plus internship with Colts

Clarksville, TN – With the NFL lockout ended, it also means Austin Peay State University defensive coordinator Granville Eastman will be leaving later this week to begin an internship with the Indianapolis Colts.

Eastman, who will begin his ninth season as a Governors assistant, will leave Thursday for Anderson (IN) University and the internship will begin Friday. He will remain with the Colts through Sunday, August 7th, before rejoining the Govs for the first day of practice, Monday, August 8th.

This will be Eastman’s fourth internship. His most recent came during Summer 2006 when, with APSU hosting the Tennessee Titans training camp on campus, he arranged an internship with the Nashville-based club, working with former Govs assistant Everett Withers, who was the Titans secondary coach at the time.

During Summer 2002, he served his first internship with the NFL’s Detroit Lions and he did the same in Summer 2004 with the Arizona Cardinals, learning more about special teams play.

Eastman is in his seventh season as Governors defensive coordinator. He has returned to working with the Govs secondary, specifically the safeties, after spending the previous two seasons as linebackers coach.

The energetic Canada native came to APSU in Spring 2003 from Tiffin (Ohio) University, where he served as a defensive assistant for four seasons.

Eastman was a two-time all-city defensive back at Leaock High School in Toronto before attending Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, Canada. There, he was a three-year letterman as a defensive back. Twice Saint Mary’s played in national title games while he was there.
