Austin Peay will spend the entire month of October in Kentucky, beginning with the November 1st Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic which has become one of the region’s elite events. The two teams will then visit smaller events hosted by Kentucky State, October 8th, and Kentucky Wesleyan, October 15th.

Those events lead up to the 2011 Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Championships, October 29th, hosted by Eastern Kentucky. The Lady Govs posted their best finish since 2002 last season and return their entire squad this season.

“We are excited about this schedule,” said cross country head coach Doug Molnar. “This is a challenging schedule and we’ll get to see quality teams each and every week. We’ll open at Belmont and get to see Southeastern Conference powers Tennessee and Alabama and we’ll culminate the season at the OVC Championship hosted by Eastern Kentucky. In between, we’ll hope to keep challenging ourselves each and every week getting ready for the OVCs.”

Following the OVC Championship, Austin Peay will travel to the NCAA’s South Regional, November 12th, at Alabama . That event is a qualifying competition for the NCAA Cross Country Championships, November 21st, in Terre Haute, IN, and hosted by Indiana State.
