Student Wins Car in Giveaway for Advanced Placement Success

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School SystemClarksville, TN – Saturday’s third annual Joe Heitz Pass and Go event ended with a recent Clarksville High graduate winning a brand new Toyota Yarris.

The event is held to encourage high school students in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System to take more rigorous advanced placement classes. If students earn a 3, 4, or 5 on the national College Board exam, they are eligible to take part in the car and laptop computer giveaway.

In the three years of the event, each year has seen an increased participation of students taking higher level courses and more student are passing the exam. Colleges accept the exam as credit hours.  This year 287 students in the system’s seven high schools passed the exams. A number of students took multiple advanced placement classes, for a total of 417 exams passed.

Joe Heitz sponsors the event, providing a car. Premier Medical Group co-sponsors, giving away 14 laptop computers and seven iPod Nano touch MP3 players. Every student receives a jump drive for attending.

This year’s car winner is Patrick Grady, who graduated as salutatorian for Clarksville High. He plans to attend Austin Peay State University this fall.
