Craig Stephens to join Governors basketball staff as graduate assistant

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Craig Stephens, who served both as high school administrator and basketball coach the last two years, has been hired as graduate assistant men’s basketball coach at Austin Peay State University.

A former student assistant coach at Middle Tennessee, Stephens spent the last two years serving as athletics director and basketball coach at Hendersonville Christian Academy.

Previous to that he served from 2007-09 as assistant basketball coach at Bethel.

He began his college coaching career in 2006-07 as an assistant at Crichton College in Memphis. Crichton finished the season 29-7 and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in school history, advancing to the Elite 8. The Comets finished as the TranSouth regular-season and tournament champions.

Craig StephensStephens spent the 2004-06 at Middle Tennessee as an undergrad assistant coach under Kermit Davis. He earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education in 2006.

A Point Pleasant, West Virgina. native, Stephens is a 2001 graduate of Lighthouse Christian School in Nashville. While playing center at LCS, Stephens earned all-district in basketball his senior year. He also earned all-region in football his senior season.

He is married to the former Kim Price.
