Cal finished the 2010-11 season at 18-15, advancing to National Invitational Tournament (NIT) second round. The Bears return their top three leading scorers from a year ago; guard Jorge Gutierrez (14.6 ppg), forward Harper Kamp (14.2 ppg) and the 2011 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year Allen Crabbe (13.4 ppg). Gutierrez and Kamp were Pac-10 All-Conference selections as well.

This is the 11th year of the CBE. Cal, Missouri, Notre Dame and Georgia will play in the tourney’s final four in Kansas City.

This is the first time Austin Peay has ever played Cal. It also will be only the third game the Govs have ever played against current Pac-12 members. In fact, his first game as APSU head coach saw Dave Loos’ Govs lose to Arizona in the 1990 Dodge NIT. The Govs defeated Colorado, then a member of the Big 12, in the 2000-01 Top of the World Classic.

After the Cal contest, the Govs will continue play in the final three tourney games against teams at a site that has not been announced.
