Football Promotions promise excitement at Governors Home GamesAPSU Sports: Men’s Football
Tailgate Alley looks to continue its growth as a prime location to prepare for each Governors game day. Tailgate reservations, which are free and open to the public, can be made by visiting www.APSU.edu/Tailgate. The first 10 student organizations to reserve a tailgate spot during the week of a game, will earn $50.00 from the athletics department to be used towards their tailgate. Student organizations must check in on game day in order to be eligible. A pair of season-long promotions also look to reward fans on Tailgate Alley. Chartwells and Subway are teaming up to present the Tailgate of the Game award, honoring the best tailgate each game with a free Subway party platter. Meanwhile, MAACO’s PeayMania Makeover will be prowling the parking lot looking for APSU fans in need of that new paint job. A finalist will be selected at each home game, with a drawing to select a winner coming during the Central State game, November 5th.A variety of single-game promotions loom large as well, beginning with “Youth Sports Night” for the Govs’ September 24th home opener against Eastern Kentucky. All kids wearing a youth sports jersey from any sport earn FREE admission. When the Govs host Tennessee State, October 1st, expect to see a lot of camouflage at Governors Stadium as it will be Military Appreciation Night. All active duty military and their families get in FREE to every home APSU event with ID, but be sure to visit the Aviation Adventure Semi (AS3). The AS3 is fully equipped with a pair of helicopter flight simulators, as well as an unmanned aerial vehicle flight simulator. That game also is part of APSU’s Family Weekend, with a limited number of free tickets available to students for their families with additional discounted group tickets available for purchase by calling 931.221.7761. The APSU Parent’s Association is set to host a free Tailgate and the APSU Supporter of the Year award will be announced at halftime. For more information, visit www.APSU.edu/familyweekend. “Communiversity Night” is slated for October 15th when the Govs host Jacksonville State, all fans with a membership ID from a local service organization, a bulletin or a newsletter will be offered discounted general admission at the gate. Organizations also can purchase those tickets in advance by calling 931.221.7615. APSU’s Housing and Residence Life also will be giving away a FREE iPad to an on-campus student at the game. Homecoming 2011, “Jurrasic Peay,” is set for the October 29th game against Eastern Illinois. The weekend kicks off with a noon, Friday, pep rally while the APSU Alumni Office will have FREE Beat EIU shirts available throughout the week. The annual Homecoming Parade begins, 1:00pm, Saturday and the King and Queen will be announced at halftime during the game. The Govs final home game, as always, will be an opportunity to recognize all the seniors for the Football Govs and the Governors Own Marching Band. It also is Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day, offering all APSU faculty and staff members, and their families free admission. Fans also should be looking for a special Veteran’s Day Recognition set to follow Clarksville/Montgomery County’s annual Veteran’s Day Parade.
