Nashville Right-hander Enjoyed Complete-Game Shutout Among Two Winning Starts

Nashville, TN – Nashville Sounds right-hander Mike Fiers has been named the Pacific Coast League’s Pitcher of the Week for the final period of the 2011 season, spanning August 29th through September 5th.

Huntsville, AL – Rain proved the eventual winner of the Chris Banister Golf Classic, played at Hampton Cove’s Highland Course.

Clarksville, TN – 101^st Airborne Division Commanding General James McConville and Homeland Security Deputy Director Rick Shipkowski will be the featured speakers at the City of Clarksville’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony hosted by Clarksville Fire Rescue.

Clarksville, TN – In collaboration with Hands On Clarksville, the LEAP Organization is utilizing its youth and mentors to help meet the goal of 600 volunteers during the Serve to Remember Days of Service in remembrance of 9/11.

Clarksville, TN – A Gas and Water construction crew will begin a water main line replacement project on Memorial Circle on Wednesday, September 7th. Workers will close the road to one lane of traffic on Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00am to 3:30pm near the intersection of Memorial Drive and Memorial Circle.

Afghan National Civil Order Police patrol Kandahar

Kandahar, Afghanistan – Members of the 2nd Afghan National Civil Order Police SWAT team and the Task Force Thunder Kandahar Pathfinder Detachment conduct a patrol September 4th. Presence patrols give the units an opportunity to interact with the local population and build a rapport with the people, while it also gives the ANCOP an opportunity to practice some of their basic operational techniques.

The SWAT team is considered to be one of the most elite of the Afghan Security Forces. Its members receive special weapons and tactics training that allows them to plan and participate in more complex or specialized missions.
