Nashville Right-hander Enjoyed Complete-Game Shutout Among Two Winning Starts

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville Sounds right-hander Mike Fiers has been named the Pacific Coast League’s Pitcher of the Week for the final period of the 2011 season, spanning August 29th through September 5th.

The 26-year-old closed out his outstanding campaign by continuing to dominate the PCL in his final two outings. He allowed no earned runs and struck out 13 batters over 14.0 innings in a pair of winning starts for the Sounds during the season’s final week. «Read the rest of this article»

Rain forces cancellation of final round of Chris Banister Golf Classic

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsHuntsville, AL – Rain proved the eventual winner of the Chris Banister Golf Classic, played at Hampton Cove’s Highland Course.

Clarksville Fire Rescue to host Clarksville’s 9/11 Memorial Ceremony

 

Clarksville, TN – 101st Airborne Division Commanding General James McConville and Homeland Security Deputy Director Rick Shipkowski will be the featured speakers at the City of Clarksville’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony hosted by Clarksville Fire Rescue.

Workers will close the road to one lane of traffic on Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00am to 3:30pm near the intersection of Memorial Drive and Memorial Circle.

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne Division159th Combat Aviation Brigade

Kandahar, Afghanistan – Members of the 2nd Afghan National Civil Order Police SWAT team and the Task Force Thunder Kandahar Pathfinder Detachment conduct a patrol September 4th. Presence patrols give the units an opportunity to interact with the local population and build a rapport with the people, while it also gives the ANCOP an opportunity to practice some of their basic operational techniques.

The SWAT team is considered to be one of the most elite of the Afghan Security Forces. Its members receive special weapons and tactics training that allows them to plan and participate in more complex or specialized missions.
