APSU Women’s Golf
Huntsville, AL – Rain proved the eventual winner of the Chris Banister Golf Classic, played at Hampton Cove’s Highland Course.
After the tourney’s second round was cancelled because of rains, round three fell to the same fate. The rainfall, serving as remnants of Tropical Storm Lee, again forced cancellation of Tuesday’s final round.
As a result, the Lady Govs ended in seventh place after shooting an opening-round 331, Sunday. Samford won the tourney, shooting a 294. Host Jacksonville State was second with a 302.
Sophomore Rachel Deaton led the Lady Govs with an 80.
The Lady Govs will return to action, next Monday and Tuesday, when they travel to Ledbetter, KY, to play in the MSU Drake Creek Invitational.
