Head Coach Doug Molnar is urging his team to go out hard and back up the efforts of sophomore Xiamar Richards, who posted a strong 28th-place finish against stiff competition at last weekend’s Belmont Opener. However, the rest of the Lady Govs struggled, leading to a seventh-place finish at the season’s first meet.

“We didn’t go out very hard last week and that was disappointing,” said Molnar. “We just didn’t trust our training and where we are at. We have addressed that this week and hopefully something will come out of it.”

Xiamar RichardsThe Lady Govs will have a good opportunity to improve on last week’s performance against a field that features only one other Division I opponent in Alabama A&M.

Other notable teams in the event include teams who are regionally ranked in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II polls:  Alabama-Huntsville (3rd, South Region), Delta State (4th, South Region), and West Florida (8th, South Region).
