September Eagle Remembrance Ceremony

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – A remembrance ceremony honoring Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell, is scheduled for 4:00pm September 14th at the Family Resource Center.

Remembrance ceremonies are held to honor fallen Soldiers deployed in support of Operations New Dawn and Enduring Freedom and are held monthly, as needed.

The September ceremony will honor the following fallen Fort Campbell Soldiers:

John M. Runkle Jr.

John Runkle, Jr.1st Lt. John M. Runkle Jr., 27, of West Salem, OH, died May 26th of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device in Kandahar province, Afghanistan.

Runkle was an Infantryman, assigned to Fox Company, (Pathfinder), 4th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 159th Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, KY. He joined the Army in June 2006 and arrived at Fort Campbell in June 2010.

His awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Good Conduct Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Korean Defense Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Bar; Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Air Assault Badge; Parachutist Badge; Pathfinder Badge and Ranger Tab.

Runkle is survived by his father, John Runkle of Woster, OH and mother, Christine Runkle of Salem, OH.

Thomas A. Bohall

Thomas BohallSergeant Thomas A. Bohall, 25, of  Bel Aire, KS, died May 26th of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. Bohall was an Infantryman assigned to Fox Company, (Pathfinder), 4th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 159th Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, KY. He joined the Army in August 2005 and arrived at Fort Campbell in October 2008.

His awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart;Air Medal; Army Achievement Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star; Iraq Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star; Non Commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal; Air Assault Badge; Parachutist Badge; Combat and Special Skill Badge Basic Marksmanship Qualification Badge; Overseas Service Bar Pathfinder Badge and Combat Infantryman Badge.

Bohall is survived by his wife, Jessica Bohall of Essington, PA; daughter, Annabelle Bohall of Essington, PA; father, Timothy Bohall of San Antonio, TX and mother, Lorna Geist.
