Stark named CIAF Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State UniversityDevin StarkClarksville, TN – Devin Stark, a junior on the Austin Peay State University football team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Memphis native impressed as he returned home, Saturday, setting career highs in both catches and yards, with nine catches for 107 yards. On the young season Stark has 13 catches for 168 yards, he had a total of 19 catches in 10 games last season.

Starks’ 107 yards at Memphis was the first time a Governor receiver went for more than 100 yards since 2009, when Adrian Mines caught seven passes for 119 yards at Murray State.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

Sophomore Xiamar Richards, of the women’s cross country team, had another strong performance with a 23rd-place finish leading the Lady Govs to a sixth-place team finish at the Georgia State Invitational.

Sophomore Tatiana Ariza, of the women’s soccer team, recorded a goal and an assist in the Lady Govs win against Lipscomb. All five of her shots were shots on goal during the weekend’s two games.

Junior Lauren Bond, of the women’s golf team, finished seventh at the MSU Drake Creek Invitational, leading the Lady Govs to a fifth-place finish. Bond shot three sub-80 rounds (75-79-72=225), with her final-round 72 the final day’s second-best round.

Senior Boniface Yator, of the men’s cross country team, recorded his second straight top-15 performance finishing 11th at the Georgia State Invitational. He completed the eight-kilometer course at 26:32, just 53 seconds behind the race winner.
