Comedy on the Cumberland raises $2,100 for Radical Mission

Clarksville, TN – Any time you can mix raising money for a charity while at the same time making people laugh, you have a sure fire recipe for success.

This is exactly what Hank Bonecutter does with his Comedy on the Cumberland franchise. He takes three very funny comedians, mixes them liberally with a worthy charity that helps to fight hunger in our community, he then adds in a great crowd, and if you were there you had a really good time.

Last Tuesday, the stars of the show were Eric Hunter, Clarksville Native John Richardson, and Gary Dull, three men as different from each other as night and day. The show was emceed by Hank Bonecutter. Together they put on an outstanding show. Each Comedy on the Cumberland show has been better than the one that came before it, something I would have sworn was impossible.

Gary Dull is a down home southern boy, and was the perfect kick off for the evening, he has been compared to “Larry the cable guy”.

Clarksville native Big John Richardson totally stole the show. He sprinkled his performance with his local references. He also had perfect comedic timing, and a smooth style. Out of the three he was by far my favorite for the evening. His CD is available on iTunes, just search for Big John Richardson.

Eric Hunter does a more cerebral number that uses a lot of word play to drive his jokes home. The consummate professional, Hunter recovered well after a car alarm started blaring outside the theater, incorporating it into his performance. He didn’t let it phase him at all.

The Roxy Regional Theatre gave a preview of their production of the musical Beehive. The show looks amazing. I plan on seeing and reviewing it later this week!

The comedy show raised $2,100, which Bonecutter has already delivered to Radical Mission.

The impact of Comedy on the Cumberland on the needy in our community is immeasurable. Many charities operate on a shoestring budget, each dollar carefully allocated down to the last time. Having a cash infusion of this nature can make the difference between a family helped or turned away.Radical Mission has said that they hope to use the funds to help expand their faculties making it possible to serve an even larger segment of our community.

The next Comedy on the Cumberland show is in the planning stages. We will give you more details soon!
