APSU police chief resigning

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University Police Chief Lantz Biles submitted a letter of resignation October 5th with an effective date of December 16th. Biles plans to relocate, along with his family, to Arizona.

Biles began as APSU police chief in February 2005 after working in various campus security positions including Knoxville College and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Prior to his current position at APSU, Biles served as manager of parking and transportation services at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.

Before his civilian career in law enforcement, Biles was an investigator with the U.S. Army, having received the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star-2 and the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Ribbon.

Biles’ accomplishments at APSU include several successes in departmental improvements such as homeland security efforts, emergency management awareness and additional security features to campus such as anonymous texting, security camera systems and emergency blue light phones throughout campus. Additionally, Biles increased retention and diversity of the public safety staff.
