Fatal Crash Claims the Life of One Man

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On October 8th, 2011, around 11:24pm, a Chevy Silverado driven by Andrew Carter, 21, of Clarksville traveling southbound on Providence Boulevard, for an unknown reason, crossed into the northbound lanes and crashed head-on into a Nissan pickup, driven by a 51 year old man, traveling northbound on Providence Boulevard.

The driver of the Nissan was traveling in the left northbound lane and tried to swerve out of the path of the Chevy, but was unsuccessful. The crash was witnessed by Officer Tim Edwards who was traveling northbound in front of the Nissan pickup and was almost hit by the Chevy Silverado head-on, but used an evasive maneuver and was able avoid a collision. The collision occurred near the intersection of Providence Boulevard and Power Street.

The 51 year old died at the scene. Carter was transported to the hospital, checked, and released.

It has not been determined if alcohol was a factor. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone that witnessed the collision is asked to call the TIPSLINEs, 931.645.8477.
