Vehicle Crashes into Patrol Car

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On October 15th, 2011 around 12:46am, a Ford F-150, driven by Jace-Devon Mitchell Smith, 22, was making a left turn from northbound, North Second Street onto southbound Riverside Drive and failed to yield to a Ford Crown Victoria patrol car, driven by Lt Chad Koyama, 33, Clarksville Police Department, traveling south on North Second Street and crashed into the driver side of the patrol car.

The three occupants of the F-150 were uninjured. Lt Koyama had bruising to his chest and minor cuts to the left arm, was taken by patrol car to Gateway, treated, and released.

The investigation is ongoing. It has not been determined if alcohol was a factor. Charges are pending.

The lead investigator is Officer Bill Van Beber.
