While Novadell is listed at the Govs home golf course, it’s one place Austin Peay has not been on much this fall. Austin Peay has played four tournaments thus far, three in Kentucky and one in Ohio, as part of a challenging schedule designed to test head coach Kirk Kayden’s young golf team.

The early primers seemingly paid off when a team comprised of one junior, three sophomores and a freshman came from eight shots back to beat SEC Kentucky and win the UC Bearcat Invite at the top-notch Traditions Golf Club, last week.

Anthony Bradley“Our guys have played well this fall,” Kayden said. “We’ve had some kids step up and play big on the final days and that’s helped us a lot. It’s tough to win two weeks in a row. That’s something we’ve talked about, but it is our home course and we’re ready to give it a go.”

The F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate will play a bit tougher than it has in the past. The staff at the Links at Novadell has worked to add more than 300 yards to the course, stretching it out to 7,132 yards, including two par-5s more than 600-yards long. That added distance will increase the difficulty and make for an exciting tournament to wrap APSU’s fall season.

Dustin KorteEight Ohio Valley Conference teams are in the field, including host Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, SIU Edwardsville, UT Martin, Morehead State, Tennessee Tech and Tennessee State. Troy, Binghamton, Wright State, Samford, Belmont, South Dakota, Western Illinois and Lipscomb make up the rest of the 16-team event.

Sophomore Anthony Bradley leads the Govs, along with junior Dustin Korte and sophomore Trey Tarpley, who earned his second OVC Golfer of the Week nod after a fifth-place finish last week at the UC Bearcat Invite. Tarpley has been a tremendous final-round player over the fall, boasting a 68.5 final-round stroke average in four fall tournaments.

Marco ItenSophomore Marco Iten and freshman Tucker Wallace make up the Govs top-five players for the tournament. Wallace made his 54-hole debut, last week, posting a top-10 finish at two-over par.

The Govs also will play three as individuals – seniors Drew Miller and Logan Loftus, along with sophomore Alasdair McLennan.
